We are pleased to hold this year's Northwest Climate Conference at The Coeur d'Alene, which offers exceptional meeting space and accommodations for our conference. We are particularly excited about the additional learning and networking opportunities that the meeting spaces will allow us to provide, and we look forward to sharing an enriching conference with you in November.

The Coeur d'Alene has set aside a block of 250 rooms available for conference attendees. The hotel will offer their high quality, recently renovated North Wing, Park Tower & some Lake Tower rooms at a rate of $85 + tax per night. A limited number lake view, fireplace rooms in the Lake Tower are available for a rate of $159 + tax.
The hotel provides controlled, covered on-site parking. The current overnight fee is $17, with valet services offered at $22. Parking is not included in the room rate.

Our conference will have full use of the venue's accommodating conference center facilities, as well as access to several smaller spaces and boardrooms for more informal networking and conversation.
Giving a talk? Large meeting spaces as will be used for plenary sessions will be equipped with projectors and screens set up to allow for attendees to see your results, mics and speakers will ensure you are heard, and as in years past we will have AV techs recording presentations for publication to the web. Holding a special or concurrent session? Smaller meeting spaces will provide a more personal space for breakout sessions without losing any of the bells and whistles provided in the plenary space.
The conference will provide continental breakfast and lunch on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as a heavy hors d'oeuvres during the poster session on Wednesday evening. Dining options beyond what will be offered during the conference include several offerings on the hotel's property ranging from the 5-star Beverly's featuring Northwest cuisine, to Italian fare at Tito's, Asian fusion at the Bonsai Bistro, pub fare at Taproom Unchained, and casual American at Dockside.
Coeur d'Alene also offers a number of restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel. A few to consider: Fire Artisan Pizza, The Cellar, Crafted Taphouse + Kitchen, and (for the grad student budget) Olympia Restaurant.
Traveling by Car:
Driving East: Driving east on I-90, enter Idaho and take Exit 11 toward Downtown Coeur d'Alene / Northwest Blvd and turn right at the top of the exit ramp. Continue south on Northwest Blvd for ~2 miles. Northwest Blvd will bear left and become Sherman Ave. at the intersection with 1st St. Continue one block and turn right onto S 2nd St.
Driving West: Driving west on I-90, enter Idaho and take Exit 15 toward City Center / Sherman Ave and turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp. Continue west on Sherman Ave. for ~1.5 miles and turn left onto S 2nd St.
Driving North: Driving north on US-95, immediately after crossing the Spokane River, take the exit for Downtown Coeur d'Alene. Continue traveling south on Northwest Blvd. for ~1 mile. Northwest Blvd will bear left and become Sherman Ave. at the intersection with 1st St. Continue one block and turn right onto S 2nd St.
Parking is available in the hotel parking garage for a cost of $17/night for self-parking or $22/night for valet parking. Parking costs are not included in your room charge.
Traveling by Air:*
Spokane International Airport is ~45 minutes from the Coeur d'Alene, with daily flights from Seattle, Portland and Boise.
If you will be renting a car at the airport, exit the airport grounds following signs for I-90 East and follow the directions above.
*The conference will provide limited transportation from the Spokane airport to the hotel. We anticipate that this transportation will operate on set time tables and request that you indicate on the registration page whether you intend to utilize this transportation option. Please check back for updated information as we near the date of the conference.
In addition to conference-provided transportation, the hotel offers an airport shuttle service at a cost. Please contact The Coeur d'Alene for more information.
If you'll be staying an extra day or two, or have guests looking for non-conference activities, Northern Idaho has something to offer — even in November!
Outdoors
Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruise: Take a cruise on Lake Coeur d'Alene, or stay out a little longer for a scenic ride up the St. Joe River. Information on length, cost and availability of lake and river cruises is provided by Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises.
Hiking: For a quick stretch of the legs near town, check out Tubbs Hill. Walkable distance from the hotel, this little nature area has a ~2 mile trail that loops around its perimeter along the lake, as well as other trails that criss-cross the interior of the 165 acre city park.
There are trails to wander and birds to spot at Farragut State Park and Heyburn State Park, located ~20 miles north and ~30 miles south of Coeur d'Alene, respectively. The Idaho Panhandle National Forest also offers miles of trails for wandering through the woods.
Biking: 70+ miles of paved bike trail run along lake shores and river banks on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. The portion of the trail between Cataldo and Heyburn State Park is particularly recommended!
Fishing: Depending upon temperatures and streamflow, early November can be a great time to fish for resident westslope cutthroat on Northern Idaho's rivers. Check with Castaway Fly Shop or Northwest Outfitters for more information on where to go, what to bring, and what bugs to use.
Historical and Cultural Sites

The Old Mission, located 28 miles east of Coeur d'Alene in Cataldo, ID, is the oldest building in Idaho and houses an exhibit detailing interactions between early Jesuit missionaries and the Coeur d'Alene and Salish tribes.
The Museum at the Brig is located in Farragut State Park, roughly 20 miles north of Coeur d'Alene off US 95. The Museum offers a look at Farragut's history as a naval training facility during WWII -- then the second largest naval training facility in the world.
Art Galleries
Just steps from the hotel, the Coeur d'Alene Galleries showcases historic and contemporary art from the 1800s to present with a focus on Western and wildlife subjects.
The Art Spirit, also only a block away, highlights regional artists working with a variety of mediums and subjects, and features a new exhibition by a local or regional artist each month.
Wineries and Breweries

Coeur d'Alene Cellars is the local winery with a tasting room is located off of US 95 just north of I-90.
And if you're willing to go a little further, Arbor Crest Cellars is located 28 miles west in Spokane.
Located just down the street from Coeur d'Alene Cellars is Tricksters Brewing Co. — how convenient! Tricksters is a production brewery and not a brewpub, but they do have a tasting room and offer tours on Fridays.
Slate Creek Brewery, ~1.5 miles north of the hotel, also has a tasting room with 8 beers on tap.
The Daft Badger is a new brewery and gastropub just 2 blocks west of Slate Creek.
